Creature Camp
What is it?
A camp you keep, not a game you beat. Woodland creatures turn up on their own schedule, wander the clearing, and comment on each other in an activity feed. You pet them, share snacks, bathe them, throw a ball, and see what they do about it. There is no fail state and no timer.
25 species across 6 body plans, 10 hats, 12 colour tints. Every creature is drawn as SVG by code the moment it appears, so no two camps look quite alike. All the sound is synthesised in the browser; there are no audio files in the download.
How do I play?
Six tabs along the top:
Camp: the clearing, plus the care panel for whoever you have selected.
Playground: five tools. Hand, Snack, Ball, Soap, Cloth. Tap with Hand or Snack; hold and scrub with Soap, then dry with Cloth. Keys 1 to 5 pick a tool.
Games: five small games (firefly, pondskip, birdsong, acorn, trail). Winning puts snacks in the bowl.
Journal: what happened while you were away.
Bestiary: everyone you have met.
Settings: Day/Night, sound, backups.
Leave it open in a tab, or close it and come back. The creatures keep their own time either way.
Does it save?
Yes, to your browser's local storage, automatically. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Two things worth knowing before you get attached to a camp:
Restore a backup is in the same place, so you can carry a camp between browsers or machines.
- Clearing your browser's site data clears the camp with it.
- On iPhone and iPad, Safari's "Prevent Cross-Site Tracking" lets saves look like they worked and then quietly drops them between visits. That affects every game embedded here, not just this one. If you play on iOS, use Settings → Download a backup now and then.
Is it accessible?
That was a build goal, not a pass at the end. Everything is reachable by keyboard, the interface is labelled for screen readers, and an automated WCAG 2.2 AA scan reports no violations on any tab. Animation respects your system's reduced-motion setting. Day and Night is a real theme switch rather than a filter over the same art.
If something is unusable for you, tell me and I will fix it.
What is it not?
No accounts, no ads, no analytics, no purchases, and no network requests of any kind. The whole game is one HTML file of about 240 KB that never contacts a server. Save the page and it plays offline forever.
No ending, no leaderboard, nothing to buy.
